MAKING
YOUR LIFE A SADHANA
One of the greatest accomplishment
for living is the making your life as sadhana. Of course it has been propagated better than a monk life because it is tough
demanding and any one requires maturity and preparation in embracing the full monk hood.
So how make the daily life in to sadhana-
Have a prayer time-
every day u pray or meditate for 15- 30 minutes. This will be very difficult. Initially as you will find the old habits and
ways will become a very big obstacles for meditation.Try to keep it regular. This will help u to take your life on spiritual
track.
Going to holy place every day
- try to go to near by temple or holy place every day. This will help u to align with the beings of
light who are in the place. If
it is ancient temple nearby then you are very lucky. try going there every week end at least.
Do not see TV , read papers or gossip too long in phone or waste
Time in internet- this is fastest way to waste your time. Instead Concentrate on
meditation. Going to relative’s places going for Marriages and function is useful for killing time. In the long run
it will ruin ones mind because u eat food not cooked in
Meditative
mood this will excite your emotions. Too much of gossip on non essential matters will drain energy and finding fault
with some
one will happen because of too much of emotions in the astral. women and men dress up in elaborate fashion to become attractive
which in turn will leave the residue memory. there fore avoid seeing tv too much .maximum of 30 minutes in day is more than
enough.
deal with neighbors positively- my grand mother had a wonderful policy of
not talking with neighbors if they come and ask some thing she will give , if they complain she will simply smile and make
sure they leave quickly.
Contemplate -
People go
through different kinds of sufferings in samsara. The best I have seen is in the 60 songs of milarepa which is available in
net. Think of preciousness of human life- this is not even realized by many people who waste there time in trivia gossip and
creating troubles for others. Human life is too precious and valuable there fore think as it precious. this will help u not
to waste time. when u go out practice metta as follows instead of worrying and in doubt
- May I Forgive Others And Just Others Forgive Of Me.
- May U Not Bring Me To Test.
- Holy Mother Please Protect Me From Distraction Of Maya .
- May I Not Be Lazy.
- May I Remember Ur Holy Name.
- May Spiritual Path Become Clear ,
- May All The Karmic Obstructions Be Removed.
- May Everyone Be Happy,
- May Everyone Be Free From Misery,
- May No One Ever Be Separated From Their Happiness,
- May Everyone Have Equanimity, Free From Hatred And Attachment.
- May All Sentient Beings Have Equanimity, Free From Attachment, Aggression And Prejudice.
- May They Be Happy, And Have The Causes For Happiness.
- May They Be Free From Suffering And Causes For Suffering.
- May They Never Be Separated From The Happiness That Is Free From Suffering.
go on chanting
and your mind will be peaceful for each verse 108 times. you will be free of worry
doubt and confusion.
reduce the level of ambition- try to fulfill all the ambition will
make ur life in to conflict and pain. Choose wisely and Understand having few
desires will help to meditate Peacefully. Have focus to meditate for more hours rather than getting more money. Meditation
is like exercise more u do the more u will become better doing at it. Meditative is like running a marathon few accomplish
it till the end. My teacher always wished people to be ambitious for the ultimate.
Differences of opinion of people- there are people who are insensitive selfish u kind angry etc. to deal with
them with patience understanding tact and love will require a bodhisattva attitudes. In general relatives will be unfair and
friends interested in meditation are very less. Use the differences to increase ur
loving kindness.
don’t run around for different gurus- have a respect for guru but u have do to the dirty work . According
rules of maya no one can give liberation other than urself. Some one can be inspiration .Admiration and even role model but
u have meditate.
Shifting prayer and shifting spouse is the same. Each mantra or prayer takes time to take root and start
giving fruits . so do not change the prayers or mantras unless u have valid reason. Keep the mantras short keep in moola mantras.
if u can not meditate - practise metta , go to temple, do some circumbulation this will help u purify karma.
when karmic puss is oozing out u will feel suddenly tired restless and want to pick up fight.
have a routines- spontaneity is useful. I have seen people wasting time gossiping and fighting in the name
of spontaneity
for planning helps meditate in
long run.
don’t leave the mind empty- u will have worry, doubts, pain of the past events. Confusion and worry
of the future will come uninvited. Keep chanting when you do some work. If you feel lonely and some times lost try to going
to a friend’s place. two to three days give up meditation. Balancing duties will be easy provided u are very clear on
taking up task and issues. The best way to socially help people is to meditate and teach meditation. Searching for proposals
for relatives or becoming president of an association etc is fastest way to be a non mediators. The great guru padma sambhava
says " u will always find time to be involved in samasara than towards liberation"
u will not become perfect in a day it will take years be patient.
